English Cocker Spaniels are hunting dogs that need a lot of exercises. Just because they are small does not mean that they will be happy to live in an apartment without a yard. Even a few daily walks will not be enough for them. This race needs a little outdoor space (fenced) to roam and play.
English Cocker Spaniels need a lot of companionships and do not like being left alone for more than a few hours. They tend to express their unhappiness through destructive chewing and barking. If you work all day, this is not the breed for you.
English Cocker Spaniels require regular brushing and combing, as well as trimming every few months. You must either learn how to use an electric hair clipper or pay a professional hairdresser for it.
If you want a conveniently sized and athletic dog that is lively, playful, and peaceful with other pets and people an English Cocker Spaniel may be right for you.
English Cocker Spaniel are very quick to bark at every new sight and sound which can easily become a nuisance for unprepared owners and their neighbors.
